Overview

The Medical Laboratory Technician Department at the Benue State College of Health Technology, Agasha, offers a comprehensive training program in Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). The program aims to produce a competent clinical laboratory service workforce necessary to meet present and projected service needs in primary and secondary health care systems.

Objectives

The aim of this training is to avail the successful graduates of MLT programme with the opportunity to:<br> i. Secure employment in clinical laboratory setting with the ability to perform basic routine and laboratory procedures with accuracy and precision.<br> ii. Recognize normal and abnormal test result and take prompt remedial actions.<br> iii. Perform and interpret basic quality control procedures. iv. Operate and perform basic maintenance and trouble shooting of laboratory equipment.<br> v. Recognize and adhere to safety policies and practices. vi. Demonstrate and maintain sound work ethics in interactions with patients, co-workers and other personnel.<br>

Programmes

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

A 3-year full-time program with intensive practical laboratory exposure components.

Admission Requirements

Prospective candidates must possess five O-level credits in WASCE, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB at not more than two sittings obtained within the last five years prior to enrollment with MLSCN in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Prospective students are selected through a competitive screening process.
